Jumbled mumbled out of this world words
Two steps forward, 8 steps backward.
Listens intently as you speak the words
the words she can't understand or so she says.
Truth is, she can.
Wrapped up in a web of ideas
Intertwined in what-ifs
Refuses to just accept it.
Hold out your hand.
Give her one last squeeze.
As if saying, "Goodbye, I'm sorry that we can never be."
And then it collapses.
